Localization: about 500 meters away from the medieval city of Saint-Emilion, Châteaux Vieux Sarpe rises over limestone plateau, located between Château Trottevieille (Premier Grand Cru Classé) and Haut Sarpe (Grand Cru Classé).Soils: clay and limestone soil.A bit of history: Roman emperor Valerius Probus (232-282), a century and a half after Domitien destroyed the Aquitaine vineyards, converted his army of legionaries into colonists that replanted vines in furrows dug inside calcareous rocks.
