Tasting Notes:

A final blend of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc for the 2013 La Croix St.-Georges came from 65% of the production. This property has done well for more than 15 years under the inspired leadership of Jean-Philippe Janoueix. The 12-acre vineyard is sandwiched between true superstars in Pomerol, particularly Le Pin and Vieux Chateau Certan. The 2013 has a dark plum color, notes of white chocolate, dusty, loamy soil undertones, and is medium-bodied with a fresh, lively, uninspiring but pleasant texture and finish. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.

Tasting Notes:

Chewy and extracted. Full body, spicy and flavorful. A little overdone. Wait and see.

description Producer information Professional reviews

Behind a gate built in the 18th century, on the Petrus' road, visitors can view Château La Croix Saint-Georges, which has been completely restored. On one of the façade of the cellars, a sculpture representing Saint-Georges fighting from horseback reminds that this domain used to belong to the chivalrous order of the charitable of Saint-Jean-de-Jerusalem. The vineyard of the Château La Croix Saint-Georges is located on the graves of the high terrace, between Vieux Château Certan, Petit Village and Le Pin. Soil : clayed-gravelly. Grapes: 95% of Merlot, for the roundness, the width and the fruit aromas, and 5% of Cabernet franc, for the elegance and structure. Winemaked and grown by Jean-Philippe Janoueix, Château La Croix Saint Georges' wine stands out by its exceptional mellowness and its great fineness.
