Tasting Notes:
A stunning, powerful wine wrapped inside an elegant exterior, with intense blackberry, currant, vanilla and dill flavors at the core, expanding to details of black tea, sandalwood and peppery dried rose petal. The texture is plush and velvety, delivering grace and finesse. Drink now through 2030. 26 cases imported.
Tasting Notes:
Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 707 has gorgeous crème de cassis, cedar, dark chocolate, spice cake and menthol notes, with a yeasty/meaty undercurrent and a waft of espresso. Medium-bodied, firm and fine in the mouth, it is intense yet elegant with great length and expression. This is another Penfolds offering that is so taut and primary at this stage, it would be a shame to open it without 2-3 more years in bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Sourced from the Barossa Valley, Padthaway and Port Lincoln, this has a lot more to offer and represents a return back to elite status after the disappointing 2013 vintage. Plenty of ripe blueberries, cassis and fruit-soaked herbs and leaves come to the surface along with some leathery, American-oak-derived notes. There's a sense of polish here and attractive blue and purple florals, too. The palate's succulent, dense and ripe, heading into black fruit territory where it's dark and brooding, long and saturated. A glossy, slate-like finish rounds off this really succulent and energetic red. This is a great 707, make no mistake. Best from 2022 and perhaps even two decades after that.
Tasting Notes:
Bottle no. AT 665. Matured for 17 months in new American oak barriques of such quality that it doesn't go to war with the fruit - or is it simply that the fruit has sucked it up? It really doesn't matter any more that some will politely move to one side and let others buy (and even drink) this wine, revelling in the mega amounts of fruit, oak and tannins.
