Tasting Notes:

This is a modern-style of St.-Emilion, with a deep ruby/purple color, plenty of raspberry and black cherry fruit, a broad medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, sweet tannin and low acidity. Drink it over the next decade. A sleeper of the vintage.

Tasting Notes:

This is really well done with blueberry, licorice and clay aromas. Full body, silky tannins and a tangy finish. Lots of orange peel. I like the balance and beauty. 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc. From organically grown grapes. Better in 2017.

description Producer information Professional reviews

Philippe Baillarguet is cellar master for the family Vauthier. He officiates in the Chateaux Moulin Saint-Georges , and especially Fonbel of Château Ausone , one of the legends of Saint-Émilion . After long years to make wine for others, the desire took to make wine for him. Thus was born the Clos des Baies in 2006. Its size is modest: Philippe Baillarguet held 30 acres leased to which rajoutèrent 58 acres on Saint-Laurent-de-Combes and clay and limestone soils and 33 acres on sandy soils which are used to develop a second wine. The vines are over 40 years and worked according to the principles of organic farming and biodynamic certification but to have some flexibility in their choices and decisions. They give low yields, lower than 30 hectoliters per hectare. The general idea that Philippe Baillarguet guide is to express as naturally as possible the spirit of the beautiful land.
