Tasting Notes:

This rich, harmonious, supple-textured wine shows the potential of 2011, with dense dark berry, dried herb, mocha, cedar and tobacco leaf notes. Ends up dry and tannic, with a push of ripe fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Drink now through 2024. 3,000 cases made.

Tasting Notes:

Another strong effort by Tim Mondavi from this relatively new project on Pritchard Hill, the 2011 Continuum’s final blend was 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 2% Merlot. Harvested late, between October 17 and November 3, it spent 19 months in 85% new French oak. The wine’s impressive deep ruby/plum/purple color is followed by notes of blackcurrants, black cherries and spring flowers. Like most 2011s, it has evolved early, but it is a medium to full-bodied beauty that represents one of the most successful wines of the vintage. Drink it now and over the next 12-16 years.

description Producer information Professional reviews

Four generations of the Mondavi family have grown and produced wines among the world’s finest. Cesare Mondavi was the first to bring wine to the table but it was his son Robert’s passion for excellence, which inspired both his family and the world. Tim and Marcia Mondavi, along with their children, maintain this continuum of excellence, innovation and tradition at their estate, high on Pritchard Hill. All great wines begin with a great site. From our early days in St. Helena to our father Roberts’s establishment of his winery in Oakville, our family has recognized the importance of this; Continuum takes the next step. Continuum had to be a hillside site, on the east side of the valley with a westerly aspect. Continuum also needed the right soil; volcanic, iron rich soils to grow wines with great structure, focus and agebility. Four generations and a lifetime of experience brought us to this estate on Pritchard Hill. Our estate has the perfect combination of soils, exposure and climate to grow wine in the company of the world's finest.
