Tasting Notes:

The 1979 is an elegant, supple, very fruity wine, with the smell of ripe plums and spicy, vanillin oak very prominently displayed. Medium bodied, with medium to dark ruby color and a lush, nicely concentrated texture, this is not a big, hefty, rich Pomerol, but rather a suave, delicate, yet fruity, interesting wine. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 2/83.

description Producer information Professional reviews

Château La Fleur-Pétrus, sometimes Château Lafleur-Pétrus, is a Bordeaux wine from the appellation Pomerol. The winery is located on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux wine region, in the commune of Pomerol in the department Gironde. As all wine produced in this appellation, La Fleur-Pétrus is unclassified but the estate is estimated among the great growths of the region. Situated across the road from Château Pétrus adjacent to Château Lafleur, the vineyard lies on the northeastern edge of the high plateau of Pomerol where the soil's particular feature is large gravel, with no clay or sand. La Fleur-Pétrus was acquired by Jean Pierre Moueix in 1953, becoming a part of the négoçiant house Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix which also owns Château Pétrus and Château Trotanoy. The estate was enlarged with the acquisition of vines from Château Le Gay in 1994. The vineyard area extends 13.5 hectares, with grape varieties of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The annual production is typically 45,000 bottles.
